As Latter-day Saint women, we are practically obsessed with anxiously engaging ourselves in good causes.
Maybe it's subliminal.
Glancing through the hymnal last Sunday I noted that as sisters in Zion, we who are called to serve are all enlisted to go marching, marching forward because the world has need of willing men to all press on scattering sunshine. We wonder if we have done any good in the world today because we have been given much and want to do what is right, keep the commandments, press forward with the Saints, choose the right, and put our shoulders to the wheel going where He wants us to go. However, as the morning breaks high on the mountaintop, truth reflects upon our senses, and while we still believe that sweet is the work, we also realize that we have work enough to do ere the sun goes down.
And thus we ask Thee ere we part, where can we turn for peace?

Where can I turn for peace, indeed? Where is my solace?
I have to tell you the funniest thing happened when we were in New Zealand -we went to church on Sunday and the opening hymn was As Sisters In Zion - my husband turned to me and said "now there's a first!"
well, no wonder we get stressed out.
some of the songs sound like funeral hymnals - is that a word? anyway, and some are haunted....i swear it!
I never really noticed this. Interesting.
Fantastically clever. And oh so very true.
That was very very clever!
I totally do feel stressed out by all my responsibilities at church, being the Bishop's wife, and having to keep track of everything everyone else is doing too.
BUT....I am also extremely blessed and I strive to remember that when the stress level hits its peak!
I am exhausted and stressed. When you find that peace, let me know
I turn to food for peace. Hence my huge waistline.
Women were made to stress!
I know, I told a friend I could be such a good mom if I wasn't mormon - cause I would have all this free time to take them to the park and library etc instead of working on family history, food storage, my calling, temple attendance, service, enrichment - oh yes the list goes on. :) The friend assured me I would NOT have more time, and that my time was multiplied when I served :) LOL.
Thanks Tammy for having the piano playing talent so that is one thing I don't have to learn or perfect = at least not right now. :)
LOL, very clever indeed!!
I'm still learning not to pray for the things I think I need, because that's when I get tested.
Clever! I love how the titles mirror life...
And when I get really stressed I just remember "Be Still My Soul"
I love you. That was fantastic.
I love it! No wonder I feel like I don't measure up, not even Molly Mormon couldn't do all of that.
YES "us" LDS women are Called to Serve, our family, friends, and church!
Tammy,
I copied this post and sent it to eight of my close friends. One, who is a RS president, wanted permission to read it at their birthday celebration this week. Is that ok with you?
You are very funny and clever. I believe I heart you.
Hee - posting this one on our ward RS blog :)
Kristin
In RS on Sunday I loved that someone quoted this "We are working on PROGRESSION, not PERFECTION" I think that is my new motto!
I think that is why some quit going, "Till we meet again" It's tempting some days but those other subliminal messages always win.
heheheeee
LOVE IT
i can open up a bottle for you right now...you'll be at peace in no time.
Did you come up with that all by yourself?? Awesome!! I do believe LDS women stress more. Our expectations are too high or something.
That is amazingly clever..
I am so doing that on our r.s. blog.
love how your mind thinks♥
I'm so stressed, it took me 8 months to find your post and enjoy it!
Thanks! And for posting Glenn Beck's 9 principles in your sidebar - cool!
