making me laugh

It's come to my attention that some of us may need a little laugh today, so I just thought I'd share some of the things making me smile.

ima gonna write a letter

I'm all about writing a letter if I'm not satisfied with something.  I may not always follow through, but it's the joke around our house that if I'm not happy, I'm going to write somebody about it.

So, imagine my delight when my brother, Justin, sent me a link to this blog.

I think I'm in love.

“If you aren’t a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you aren’t conservative at forty, you have no brain.” ~ Winston Churchill

I used to be a liberal.
Seriously.

Okay, not really, but I did used to be a lot less conservative in my thinking.  Luvpilot and I both were.

And then we grew up.  It's a common occurence.
See....

Afroconservative - she talks about being black in America, and how the black family was fine until the Democrats started with handouts.

Real Clear Politics - after reading his post, also read the comment from the man who lived in Sweden for 15 years (RussS - 6th comment down).

and HERE a recovering liberal who is also a psychotherapist makes some interesting conclusions about why President Obama acts the way he does.

And the #1 reason why I'm not a liberal.  It's just too damn hard....
{so funny but warning:  the part around 3:25 isn't for little ears}

And let me just say one thing to those who think this country is so terrible and are trying to change it into a Socialist state:

If you don't like it here, you can leave!  In fact, please do.

study like a scholar, scholar

Even Ute fans (Tiburon and Cheeseboy) are going to have to admit this take on the Old Spice commercials is funny.

Thanks to my brother Justin for sending it to me.

one man's vegetable is another man's treat

Another repost because my brain is on summer vacation...

The boys spent Friday night at Grammy's. They always love this because they basically get away with everything short of murder. When I picked them up on Saturday I asked them what they did the night before.

Boys: We went for a walk with the dogs.

Me: Where'd you go?

Boys: To the gas station.

Me: Really? What for?

Boys: Treats.

Me: What'd you get?

Taylor: I got a squishee, a giant Kit Kat, Icebreaker Sours, and some bubble gum.

Me: Wow.  You're spoiled.  What'd you get, Boo?

Connor: I got a squishee, a Butterfinger, some Bubble Tape and some corn.

Me: Some corn?......Candy corn?

Connor: Nope. A can of corn. I thought it looked good.

And that is just another reason why I love that kid.

the art of stripping

Perfected by Connor.
The kid can be naked in 3.2 seconds, down to his undies, without even breaking stride.

this just in from washington, d.c..

The Supreme Court has ruled there will be no Nativity scene this year in the nation's capital.

The ruling was not based on any religious principle, however. The problem stems from the inability of Nativity organizers to locate three wise men anywhere in the city. The search for a virgin continues.

On the bright side, there has been no problem finding enough donkeys to fill the stable.

what not to eat when you're on a diet...

Sloppy joe on a Krispy Kreme. I find it rather disturbing that Taylor thinks this looks good.

Ultimate Oreo.

Double bacon burger fatty melt.

Corn dog pizza.

embarrasing moment #1

I needed a break from the doom and gloom. Because it is what it is, right? So for today, only happy thoughts.

I thought I'd share with you one of my most embarrassing moments. I have had a few, but I try to block them from my memory. This one has found it's way back.

I was pregnant with Taylor, my first pregnancy, so I was a little clueless about the whole thing. {Well, not the whole thing, but a lot of it.}

I was at the doctor's office for my second appointment, the nurse took me into the examining room and told me the doctor would be right in. I proceeded to take off all of my clothes, just like at the first appointment.

But wait, why didn't she leave a gown out for me? She must've forgotten, I'm thinking. Well I for sure as heck don't want to just be sitting there naked with nothing to cover me when he walks in. And I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to get undressed because every time I've been to the OB/GYN's office I've had to be naked. Okay, no problem I'll just look for a gown in one of the drawers and slip it on.

So the doctor finally comes in, asks how I'm feeling, has me lay down so he can listen for the baby's heartbeat, and is done in a matter of minutes. I'm thinking "That's it?". He then starts to leave, but first turns to me and says,

"Oh by the way, you don't have to get undressed for your future appointments, while I do appreciate your being naked, it won't be necessary."

Thankfully he's the only person I've gotten unnecessarily naked for.

(And if you're in UT, and know Dr. Rappleye, please don't remind him of this.)

**I did end up laughing. He was a very funny guy. Didn't stop me from seeing him for all of my follow up appointments. And he did get me through a very high risk pregnancy for which I will always be thankful.
